Two Georgia Women
Presidential candidate Kamala Harris spoke recently of the tragic deaths of two young women from Georgia, Candi Miller and Amber Nicole Thurman. Their deaths could have been prevented, but their medical care was hindered by Georgia's six-week abortion ban. Denial of life saving care as a result of abortion laws strikes a nerve – it's a clear example of government sanctioned malfeasance that this nation has not seen since the Tuskegee Experiment.

July 25, 2024 | The collective political action committees of the Divine Nine fraternities stand united in our displeasure and disgust with the disrespect that continues to be shown towards Vice President Kamala Harris by supporters aligned with the Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump. As Black men, husbands, and fathers we are tired of the racist and sexist treatment of Black women who dare exhibit leadership, courage, ambition, and competence. It is evident that there are those who believe Black men will remain silent when we see Black women denigrated.

Reflecting on the Impact of Jim Crow on the Black Family
Considering the recent comments about the Black family and Jim Crow made by a member of Congress, I can't help but reflect on the profound impact Jim Crow segregation had on Black families. Thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of grieving wives, sons, and daughters were affected by lynchings and the false imprisonment of Black men. These are stark examples of broken families, but the damage went far deeper.
