Monica Cloud is a North Carolinian who has devoted her life to public service.

She was the Deputy Executive Director at the North Carolina Democratic Party where she led the 50-state strategy for the DNC in North Carolina. She went on to work as Deputy Political Director in North Carolina for Hillary for President and Chief Financial Officer for Hagan for U.S. Senate and Kendrick Meek for Florida, two historic U.S. Senate races. After leaving Florida, Monica worked as the Deputy Political Director at Service Employees International Union (SEIU). Additionally, she worked with Party committees as the Executive Director of the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State (DASS) and on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Independent Expenditure. Monica has been a consultant for many other political organizations, numerous winning state, local and federal political candidates and non-profit organizations.
She has also worked on Capitol Hill as Legislative Counsel and Deputy Chief of Staff to Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee and Chief of Staff to Rep. Alma Adams. Upon leaving the Hill, she worked was Chief of Staff at Cerner Healthcare CGS and is currently a Director of Federal Government Relations for GSK pharmaceutical.

Monica holds a bachelors degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Juris Doctorate from Washburn University School of Law. She has enjoyed volunteering with the Junior League of Washington and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture for many years. She is very active at UNC-Chapel Hill as a member of the Alumni Committee of Racial and Ethnic Diversity (ACRED), Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF), the Sonya Hanes Stones Culture Center, the Board of Visitors and was recently elected to the General Alumni Association (GAA). Monica was the first minority elected Speaker of Congress during the University’s 200th year.
