Why we’re endorsing
- Born into a working-class family with parents who worked hard to make ends meet
- As a young single dad, relied on Medicaid and food stamps for his son, and public education for a path forward.
- Went on to earn five degrees – including a Ph.D. in education and a law degree
- Raised four boys with his wife, Berna
- Became a public school math teacher
- Served as Nevada’s Senate Majority Leader
- Today, he serves as Nevada’s Attorney General, the first Black AG in Nevada history – and one of the most effective AGs in the country.
Candidate’s platform
- Housing: Work collaboratively to tackle the affordable housing crisis from every angle and help make housing more accessible for all renters and homebuyers.
- Health Care: Address predatory practices by Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) who pocket profits instead of passing those savings on to Nevadans; relieve medical debt and address causal factors; crack down on price gouging and fraudulent medical billing.
- Energy: Remain focused on preventing arbitrary efforts to raise household costs on Nevadans; prioritize delivering clean and affordable energy to Nevada and building Nevada’s energy workforce; stand up to the utility companies currently raising costs on residents; facilitate residential solar installation and energy efficiency incentives
- Education: Widen the circle of opportunity to ensure that every student has a fair chance to succeed.
