Why we’re endorsing

  • Proven leadership, unmatched qualifications: Served as a judge, the first Black attorney to Georgia Governor Roy Barnes, and a presidential appointee as Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights at USDA, where she helped turn around a struggling federal agency.
  • Strong statewide support: Has built broad support across Georgia and raised more money than any other Democratic candidate for Secretary of State, demonstrating strong momentum and confidence in her candidacy.
  • Education, qualifications: She holds a Juris Doctor, earned a Ph.D., masters degree, and completed post-doctoral studies. She is a licensed attorney and mediator/arbitrator, and an ordained pastor. .

Candidate’s platform

  • Protecting fair and accessible elections: Will uphold the responsibilities of Georgia’s chief elections officer and will fight to ensure elections are secure, transparent, and accessible so that every eligible Georgian’s voice is heard. Expand early voting sites and accessible voting centers across counties. Strengthen absentee ballot access with clear instructions and convenient drop boxes. Rebuild public trust through voter education and transparent processes.
  • A champion for small businesses, entrepreneurs and economic growth: With a firm belief that strong businesses build strong communities, and strong communities build a strong Georgia, will work to modernize the office from being simply a gatekeeper to becoming a true partner for small businesses, connecting entrepreneurs to opportunities, capital, and larger industry ecosystems. She will remove unnecessary hurdles for small business growth.
  • Modernize professional licensing and cut bureaucracy: Georgia’s workforce depends on swift professional licensure and she will deliver that. Reduce wait times for license processing. Offer priority for critical professions.
  • Safeguard seniors and Georgians from fraud: Use the office’s regulatory authority to investigate and prevent fraudulent licensing and elder exploitation. Expand public education efforts around cybersecurity and scam prevention.
